The holidays are coming and it is a great time to be with friends and family and celebrate all that we love. It can be a really lovely time full of holiday cheer, festive traditions, and just lots of fun, games, and good food.
But if you are going to be playing host this year, then it does take a little behind the scenes work to get the home looking as you like it, to make sure that any guests visiting are comfortable and enjoy themselves.
If you have guests staying overnight too which can happen at this time of year, then it can mean a little more to do to make sure they’re comfortable and can get a good night’s sleep.
So with all of that in mind, today’s post is all about getting guest ready for the holidays. Start planning now and it will make things much easier when the time comes.
If you have a guest room, then it may have been set up with a made bed for a while. But guests deserve fresh sheets, so make sure that you wash it all ready and in time for people staying over.
If it is more of a case of people sleeping on sofas or air mattresses, then you might have bedding tucked away into storage. But again, this won’t be in the best condition.
Make sure that it is all clean and ready to go for when you need it; nothing beats the feel and smell of fresh sheets.
The small things can really make a difference when someone is going to be staying over.
If you have spare beds, then could you add things like headboards to them to make them look that little bit more finished off.
How about filling the room with flowers or plants to make it look really special? You could even leave a little tray of goodies in there for them or leave a little mint on the pillow. It will help them to feel really taken care of and shows how thoughtful you are.
Stock Up on Essentials
With so much going on over the holiday season it can be easy to get distracted by everything. So with that in mind, there are some essentials that are important to not forget about.
Making sure that you have enough hand soap, shampoo, and other beauty products is a good idea, just in case they forget theirs. Toilet paper is also something that you don’t want to run out of, as well as making sure that you have enough of the basics in the kitchen as well.
Juice, filtered water, bread, condiments, eggs, milk, tea, and coffee, all mean that guests can help themselves when they wake up in the morning.
There are many different things that you can do, but these are just some to get you started. If there will be kids, then think about what would suit their age.
Making sure people know the wifi code is also a nice idea, so they don’t have to bother you to find it out.
