So back in April I tried my first LookFantastic Beauty Box and I wasn’t too impressed.
Well, I decided to give them another try.
We all make mistakes sometimes, they tried to right their wrongs, people deserve a second chance and all that.
I’m so glad I did because I am impressed, the box alone is gorgeous!
This time around everything was included, and honestly, it felt a little more value than Glossybox.
We’ll discuss this further down, right now we’ll get stuck into the review and find out what was inside this months LookFantastic Beauty Box.
What’s Inside The May LookFantastic Beauty Box?
Inside a LookFantastic Beauty Box you receive six products, opposed to Glossybox’s five (although there was an extra, free gift this month), you also receive a glossy little booklet with a product menu and other little bits of info inside, plus you receive a handbag sized copy of ELLE magazine.
The products I received were:
- Avant – RNA Serum – 5ml
- Thisworks – In Transit Camera Closeup – 20ml
- Skinrepublic – Bubble Purifying + Charcoal Face Sheet Mask – One Sheet 20ml
- Sleek Makeup – Face Contour Kit Medium
- Eyeko – Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner
- Spotlight – Teeth Whitening Strips – Four Uses
I love the variety! So let’s open up the box and find out what the products are like!
Avant – RNA Serum
Harnessing the potent power of RNA and Arginine’s antioxidant properties to give your skin some well deserved TLC! The lightweight serum helps your skin radically combat signs of aging from wrinkles to sagging skin and even brown spots. The formula leaves skin visibly firmer and healthier.
How To Use: Apply a few drops of serum to damp skin after cleansing Press serum into skin with an open palm instead of fingertips to release active ingredients. Wait 2-3 minutes to allow serum to fully absorb before moisturising.
Top Tip: For maximum absorption, be sure to wash your face with tepid water before applying your serum. Then tone and exfoliate! – LookFantastic
I don’t know if its too early to tell, or just rubbish, but I haven’t noticed this product make any changes yet.
I’m going to come back to this one in a few days and update you. But at least for now you know a little about the product.
Tuesday May 22nd 2018 Update – I still haven’t noticed any change. Honestly it’s hard to tell with having a bubble mask and mask/moisturiser and primer in one in the box too!
Thisworks – In Transit Camera Closeup
Get ready for your close up. A travel-sized gem that evens, plumps and brightens your skin. This product is a mask, moisturiser and a primer all in one. It contains a powerful blend of repairing plant oils as well as a boost of caffeine to erase signs of fatigue, making your skin look radiant.
How To Use: Apply to clean skin, including eye area, and massage gently until absorbed.
Top Tip: It can also double as a “lip liner” to lock in bold lipstick and stop it from bleeding. We like to apply this with a flat-tipped lip brush to get a clean line. – LookFantastic
This primer smells awesome!
It soaks in well to the skin and leaves a smooth base for you to apply your makeup.
No issues with it so far, but it does just seem your average primer but with a nice smell.
Skinrepublic – Bubble Purifying + Charcoal Face Sheet Mask
Rejuvenate your complexion with an innovative treatment to dissolve impurities and stimulate cellular renewal. When applied, the sheet mask creates a foaming effect when exposed to air that delivers a deep cleanse that unclogs pores and eliminates dirt. A selection of fruit-derived acids work to gently exfoliate the surface layer of skin, while Charcoal is renowned for its detoxifying properties.
How To Use: Cleanse skin. Rub sachet for a few seconds to activate bubbles. Tear open sachet and remove mask from packaging. Unfold and place onto face for 15-20 minutes. You will see the mask begin to bubble and foam. Remove the mask and rinse off any excess with water.
Top Tip: You don’t have to rinse off the bubbles, you can use as added serum!
My mask didn’t work as well as other peoples!
I’ve came across a few selfies of ladies wearing this mask.. and mine didn’t bubble up anywhere near as much!
That said, after use my skin did feel very moisturised, I’m not sure if I would buy this mask again though.
Sleek Makeup – Face Contour Kit Medium
This gorgeous compact is perfect for contouring cheekbones and adding shimmer to illuminate your face and create a flawless finish to your makeup.
How To Use: To achieve great cheek definition, apply the contour powder using a small contour brush. Start from the ear moving gently towards the direction of your mouth, building definition as desired and blending as you go, to ensure all lines are soft. Then, apply the highlighter lightly to the apples of the cheeks for defined and sculpted cheekbones.
Top Tip: Apply the highlighter to exposed collarbones for an added glow!
I always struggle with contour products, not that I’ve tried many.. like 5 different contour products at the most, but 4 of those 5 barely show up on me, or have a horrible dirt/muddy finish.
So, on my first try I got stuck into the dark shade, crammed it on my brush and started to blend onto my face.. and whoa! It was far too much powder!
So now I know to gradually build up the product, and I looove the results!
As for the highlight.. it doesn’t particularly leave me too poppin’ but it is a lovely natural, subtle glow.
Overall, I’m a very happy girl!
Eyeko – Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner
A black liquid liner with a tapered precision tip. This waterproof eyeliner glides effortlessly across the eyes in one simple sweep, allowing you to create subtle, thin lines or dramatic cat eyes. Expect professional, controlled application and superior colour pay-off that even Alexa Chung raves about!
How To Use: Dot along the upper lid to build up the perfect cat eye.
Top Tip: For a smokey eye, blend out the liner with an eyeshadow brush whilst still wet.
I admit, I’m crap at doing wings. I probably succeed at doing decent ones like once every ten attempts!
But this eyeliner is really easy to use, it goes on smoothly with no jagged lines, the tip has awesome precision, and I’ve now managed to do decent wings twice in a row with it!
Apparently this is waterproof eyeliner, but I found after a few hours it was starting to slide off.
Spotlight – Teeth Whitening Strips
These best-selling whitening strips have been specially formulated by dentists and are clinically proven to safely whiten your teeth with minimal tooth sensitivity. The easy-to-use strips sit comfortably and perfectly to the contour of your teeth whilst the hydrogen peroxide breaks down any complex external stains, penetrating the top layer of the enamel to reveal a natural, pearly white smile.
How To Use: Place the shorter whitening strips on the dry lower teeth first and then the longer strip on dry top teeth. Leave the strips in place for 1 hour. Remove the strips and rinse away any residual gel.
Top Tip: Avoid dark coloured foods and drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine for the first few days during and after use to see the brightest smile!
Ok, I wasn’t a fan of this.
I did feel my teeth looked a little whiter after use, but I didn’t enjoy the overall process.
Basically you have two long strips to stick along your teeth, after a bit of patting down they seem to stay in place and you need to keep them on for an hour.
Loads of sticky, gunky slime begins building up onto your teeth and starts to squeeze out from under the strips, it’s not an awful taste but it’s also just not nice.
When it came to taking the sticky strips off of my teeth, they were stuck hard! Plus even harder to remove due to all of the slippy slime.
Once you take the strips off, your teeth are completely coated with the slime and you need to brush your teeth.
It wasn’t a pleasant process spitting out long streaks of slime but I found my teeth did look whiter.
I’ll maybe keep the other 3 for part of a giveaway or something!
